Hebden Bridge Arts Festival Presents
In addition to the annual festival we are delivering year-round arts projects to our valued over-65 residents of Calderdale and supporting local artists, businesses and community groups to keep our town vibrant, inventive, active, inclusive and exciting.
Café Culture is a charming monthly social gathering which celebrates ageing and diversity within Calderdale. We promote independence and social inclusion by providing entertaining afternoons to our over-65 residents, carers and ABSOLUTELY anyone else who wants to join us.
Our lively, interactive talks served up with tea, coffee and homemade cakes are held on the first Thursday each month running from 2.00pm-3.30pm in Hebden Bridge Town Hall. In addition to the talks we double-up as an Information Hub of other events happening about town and handpicked interesting volunteer opportunities.
Cafe Culture has been running for two years and has already gained a delightfully loyal audience.
“I think it’s a good thing for older people, we are all interested in learning”
“I look forward to it every month”
“Such wonderful & inspiring afternoons!”
“I enjoy Cafe Culture very much & it is very friendly”
“All the talks are very good & entertaining”
“I really appreciate the tea/coffee and cakes – it makes it more of a club”
Popular talks have included The Plague Doctor (David Bell), Yorkshires Wild Beauty (Photographer John Gardner) and 3 Mills: Listers, Dean Clough & Salts Mills (Michael Cullingworth).
We would like to reach more residents to join in and create a huge social get together at Café Culture. Contact us for a chat if you have a group who may be interested in attending as a monthly trip – we are keen to help with transport where we can. We would also love to hear from you if you want to volunteer with us, if you are a local speaker, or if you want to ask us about our speakers directory – email firstname.lastname@example.org
