Ian Burney and Mike Green trace the history of English CSI using two murder cases that took place 30 years apart and examine the rise of the ‘celebrity’ pathologist, advances in science, increased public fascination and media interest in CSI. ian is based at the University of Manchester’s Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine. Mike Green was a Home Office pathologist in the 1970s and worked on a number of high-profile cases.He has worked on around 1,000 murder cases, including Sutcliffe, Brady and Hindley, as well as 3,000 suspicious deaths.
