We are a collective of vibrant young artists based in Hebden Bridge. We produce music and theatre events, craft events, exhibitions, and support creative entrepreneurialism, teaching and helping each other with how to survive and thrive with our art as our armour. We believe that being young, doesn’t mean being dumb. That being young doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a platform. Our events are created by young people, for ALL people. Anyone can support good art from any age. And there’s plenty here. So eat your art out.
The Nova Collective is an initiative set up by Hebden Bridge Arts festival in 2017 under the guidance of festival director Helen Meller. The Arts Festival has devised strategies over the years to support young creatives in the area, and this was a large development to aim to create something sustainable and longstanding. With the initiative first set up by Hana Osborne, and later directed by Kate Radford, the collective has gone from strength to strength.
Creatively producing over 10 events in a year, employing young people (16-30) in the area, creating mentorship programmes, ongoing online retail as well as selling spaces in the area, developing potential education and outreach and networking with other arts and well being organisations in Calderdale the collective is well and truly here to stay.
