Nestled in the dramatic, rugged hills of the Calder Valley, our unique and picturesque town is renowned for its quirky, artistic vibe, and friendly Yorkshire hospitality.
A distinctive, cultural gem of West Yorkshire, Hebden Bridge is a well-established tourist hotspot, where there’s always plenty to see and do, no matter what your interests.
Our artistic flair is obvious from the moment you arrive, with frequent open air installations and exhibitions around town. On top of the high-profile gigs we host, buskers and street performers are commonplace here, and more often than not, there’s some sort of festival or event are taking place.

We don’t like to boast, but our location is rather spectacular. Whether you’re looking out onto the glistening river, watching the barges float down the canal or marvelling at the sun casting its shadows on the craggy steeps, you can’t deny the beauty of Hebden Bridge.
There are plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal with nature, there are short walks and long hikes right on our doorstep, numerous mountain biking trails and of course the opportunity to challenge yourself to follow the 2014 Tour de France route. It may be steep, but you’re sure to be rewarded with outstanding vistas across the Valley and beyond – and no shortage of cosy pubs along the way!
Shopping, eating and drinking
We like to do things our way, and our diverse array of independent shops, markets, cafes and bars is testament to that free spirit. You could easily while away your time here browsing for some unusual souvenirs, from antique treasures to bespoke jewellery, or from quirky interior items to prints or ceramics designed and produced right here in the Valley.
You’re in for a treat if you like your food and drink – there are plenty of delights to be found, with scrumptious cakes on almost every corner, and an impressive selection of real ales on offer at our various pubs and bars – many of which are brewed locally. And of course, there’s our traditional sweet shop which is sure to put a smile on your face, young or old!
The Boxing Day floods ravaged many of our local businesses – but we’re bouncing back! Courage, determination and a resilient community spirit has resulted in a deluge of generosity and creativity, meaning Hebden Bridge is well and truly open for business!
