Who Lived In My Street 100 Years Ago?

Every building tells a story and in 2016 the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival launched its very own blue plaque project to learn more about the residents of Hebden Bridge in 1916!

Who Lived in my Street 100 Years Ago is a community project which brought local history to life as Hebden Bridge residents researched the previous occupants of their houses, shops and schools in 1916.

If you take a walk around Hebden Bridge and spot blue plaques in windows you’ll be given a glimpse into the town as it was 100 years ago.

You can hear and read some of the wonderful stories about the time that came to light by watching the short films and downloading the stories below. You can view gallery of images from the project here.

As a living heritage project ‘Who Lived in my Street 100 Years Ago’ is constantly evolving. We’d love to hear your heritage stories too, please feel free to send them (either written or audio) to contactus@hbaf.co.uk
